Did the month of April just disappear as fast as our jerky did from your pantry? Because same.

May is near and that means Mother’s Day!
You might be wondering how to make your mum, or the mother of your children (hey dads! We haven’t forgotten about you), feel the love this Mother’s Day, look no further.

We wanted to make it easy for you this Mother’s Day, so below, we have concocted a selection of our favourite jerky recipes that are drooling guaranteed. Your mum or wife (hello again dads!) won’t see it coming!

Jerky Joys

They call it the jerky joy, a sweet & crunchy honey crackle with buttery glazed beef jerky.

But how?

The stuff:

Don’t forget to buy an extra pack of jerky when you get the ingredients. Half of baking is waiting, so you might as well get your snack on!

Now that you’ve got the goods (give yourselves a pat on the back, you deserve it!), here’s how you put it all together to create this innovative, mouth-watering snack.

The technique:

  • Preheat oven to 150°c
  • Line 12-hole patty pan with paper cases.
  • Melt butter, sugar, honey and chopped jerky together until frothy.
  • Add to corn flakes and mix well.
  • Working quickly spoon into patty cases.
  • Bake in a slow oven, 150 for 10 mins.
  • Cool.

Next, the most exciting part of it all, the part that makes it all worth it….

Serving it up and devouring the whole lot with your mum…mmmm

Beef Jerky Jam

Ok, ok, I’m just going to get straight into this one.

What you’ll need (if you want the happiest mum on Mother’s Day):

  • 50g packet Jack Links Beef Jerky (+ additional jerky to fuel you through the cooking).
  • 2x large onions.
  • 1x clove garlic, crushed.
  • 1 tsp olive oil.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup bourbon.
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup.
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar.
  • 1/8 cup black coffee. (1/2 tsp dissolved in water)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp allspice.
  • A few dashes of tabasco hot sauce or similar.
  • Pinch of sea salt.

What you’ll need to do:

  • Slice onions and jerky finely.
  • Fry onion & garlic with olive oil for 5 mins until it starts to soften.
  • Add beef jerky, sugar & spices and stir until sugar has dissolved.
  • Add bourbon, maple, coffee & vinegar and bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat to slow simmer and continue to cook for approximately 20 minutes or until desired consistency is reached.
  • Season with salt and hot sauce.

The result should be a jam like consistency. (Will thicken upon cooling)

PUT IT ON EVERYTHING!!!!

Last but not least!

Beef Jerky & Mac ‘n’ Cheese Balls

This quick and easy snack will blow your mind, and your mums, so don’t come for us when it does because we’re warning you.

Crispy on the outside, delicious on the inside, need I say more?

What you’ll need:

  • Your favourite mac ‘n’ cheese
  • Oil
  • Panko breadcrumbs (Any bread crumbs will do but these are the best!)
  • Jack Link’s beef jerky
  • Mozzarella cheese

What you’ll need to do:

  • Grab a packet of Jack Link’s beef jerky. Chop it up. Mix it into your mac ‘n’ cheese.
  • Add a good handful of mozzarella into your jerky/mac/cheese mix. Chuck it in the fridge and let it cool.
  • Take your cold mix. Form into balls. Coat in Panko breadcrumbs.
  • Deep fry until golden brown.

There is also a secret ingredient that we haven’t mentioned in any of the recipes yet, that, if not included, could ultimately lead to your downfall this Mother’s Day. That ingredient is the good old TLC. Tender. Loving. Care. It’s a must in every one of the above recipes.

Without this…boy oh boy will your mother know…
