Edwards Motorsports starts the new season in style!

Edwards Motorsports is back for the 2018/19 season, but before we get into the deets of the first few rounds let’s take a moment to appreciate how AWESOME the brothers look in their new racing attire!

Brock is ready to race in style!
Matching! Love it Chevy.

The two Edwards Brothers, Brock and Chevy are coming back after an amazing last season! Brock finished 3rd overall in points for the Club Championship and picked up the prestigious Drivers Driver award. Chevy finished 12th overall  which is not bad considering he only got to race 2 meetings for the whole year due to car issues.

PLUS the Edwards family for the second year running won Best Presented Team (that was without the suits) and awarded Volunteer Appreciation awards!

Okay, enough proud parent mush, let’s get into it!

The unstoppable brothers!

Round 1 at Wangaratta Speedway

It was a good start to the season with Chevy setting 2nd quickest qualifying lap time and Brock set

3rd quickest. The first heat saw Chevy finish 2nd and Brock 3rd. The second heat had them starting from the back but still managed to finish 5th for Brock and 7th for Chevy.

Chevy had a great start to the 25 lap feature and was immediately into 2nd by the first turn. Chevy and the leader were pulling away from the rest of the field when unfortunately Chevy spun out!

Brock had a great battle and bought the V12 home across the line in 3rd place while Chevy fought hard to get back from 7th place and ended up crossing the line in a very close 4th to Brock.

Don’t you just love the unpredictability of racing! #feedyourwildside

Brock accepting his 3rd place win!

Round 2 saw the team head to their hometown track at Alexandra Speedway. Needless to saw the support from all of their family, friends and loyal supporters was amazing and noisy!

Chevy set 2nd quickest time in qualifying, Brock 3rd quickest so that had them starting out of P2 + P3 respectively in the first heat. They held their own and crossed the line as they started, Chevy P2, Brock P3. The second heat Brock crossed the line in P3 and Chevy in P5.

The final feature was one full of ups and downs. Brock started feature from P3, Chevy from P4 and both had great starts. Brock straight into P2, Chev up to P3. They held those positions for nearly 10 laps until an incident on the track had the yellows turned on. After rolling around under the yellow for another 8 or 9 laps Brock’s tyre was going flat so he pulled infield as the rest of the field stopped on the track. Race was then declared due to the incident but after a protest; Brock was relegated his 2nd place finish as he had broken his belts while on the infield.

On the plus side, Chevy then technically finished 2nd instead of 3rd but gee it would have been good to have both boys on the podium together for the first time.

Congrats Chevy on 2nd place!

You get a sample, you get a sample, everyone gets a sample!!!!

When the racing is all done, the fans continue to go wild for the boys as they walk through the crowds handing out the goods!

The little ones just love beef jerky!

Next stop –  Rushworth Speedway on December 8th!
