Ocean Thunder Spectacular!
Ocean Thunder Spectacular!
Once again, the most skilled groups of surf rowers EVER gathered at Sydney’s Dee Why Beach for events 3 and 4 of the Thunder Surfboat Series.
Seriously, I don’t know where they get their energy from… have you seen those waves! #proteinwhackfromjack

Everyone- competitors, officials and spectators alike, were absolutely stoked to be greeted with perfect weather that lasted across both events, and of course our spectators were also treated to some delicious jerky! Hundreds of packs went flying out the door and into the hands of kids, adults and we even saw some dogs checking out the goods!
In Event 3 the men’s winners were The Beach Club Collaroy/ XXXX Gold (Collaroy) and the women’s winners were the ever brilliant, Exeter Plumbing (Palm Beach).

The following month things really heated up with the 4th and final round of Ocean Thunder, continuing with the thrills, excellence and surprises which this series always delivers.
Men’s event 3 winners, The Beach Club Collaroy/XXXX Gold (Collaroy), started the day in 2nd place by one point behind series leaders Dial Before You Dig (Batemans Bay).
Dial Before You Dig (Batemans Bay) and The Beach Cub Collaroy/XXXX Gold (Collaroy), both dominated the first leg of the race before the final row home saw The Beach Club Collaroy/XXXX Gold (Collaroy), assert their authority and power on comfortably ahead, coming in as the event winner.
In the women’s event, Exeter Plumbing (Palm Beach) aimed for a history making clean sweep of event wins but unfortunately came under the event winners curse and had to have an early exit from the day.
This left the race open for the ABP Group (Currumbin) to win the event but overall Exeter Plumbing (Palm Beach) had acquired enough points throughout the events to win as overall series champions or 2017/18! You rock!
