Snowy Mountains 1000 Sprint

“NEW Australian Record!”

What a day!

The Snowy Mountains 1000 was a huge success with a new national 1000m record set! Chris Thomson’s R35 broke the Australian 1000m record with a time of 16.55 @ 336km/h. Well done Chris, Trent Whyte and the Mercury Team.

1000m Runway Sprint

The Snowy Mountains 1000 is a unique race conceived in 2011 after watching a Top Gear episode of a 1 mile race in the USA desert. The Snowy Mountains 1000 was soon after developed and the team were the first to organise competitive 1000m runway sprints in Australia. For the past 5 years’ hundreds of racers have flocked to the Cooma Airport in the Snowy Mountains to race down the 1km Airport Runway while being timed – the fastest car wins!
